Visitors on holiday in London have endless choices for great spots to take in. Hotels in London make it possible to experience the wonderful culture, music and romance of this great city.
Cultural spots in London are easy to find if you know what you’re looking for. For art lovers, visit one of the city’s many museums. The Tate and the Tate Modern are wonderful for those with a taste for new and modern pieces. The National Portrait Gallery in Trafalgar Square offers some portraits of famous individuals, both political and artistic. This is where you’ll find the only known portrait of authoress Jane Austen and the only painting done of Shakespeare from life.
At the British Library, guests will discover more than just a trove of amazing books. In the galleries section there are original manuscripts and other gems from some of the country’s most famous writers. Lewis Carroll’s notes from the Alice in Wonderland story can be found here, as well as letters written by Jane Austen. Some of the Beatles lyrics, written in their own hand on scraps of paper, are also on display here.
Music lovers have a feast available to them in London. In the summer, parks like Hyde Park and Regents Park will often host concert series boasting some big name performers. The O2 is also a fine spot to catch your favourite rock or hip hop star in concert. For music in a classical setting, try the Royal Albert Hall, which has been wonderfully maintained for visitors to the city.
For a romantic night out, visit the area of London known as Richmond-upon-Thames. The Richmond district sits beautifully on the River Thames, giving guests a stunning view as they enjoy a meal. If the weather is nice restaurants will sit diners outside, allowing you to watch as the sky changes colours with your loved one. After dinner, stroll along the quaint streets of Richmond, stopping for a coffee or ice cream.
